The Reuben with a twist
The classic Reuben sandwich uses rye bread. Recipes are only guidelines. We decided to see how the Reuben would taste using a sourdough bun. Our bread substitution was amazing! We are sure you will love it too!

Directions

Ingredients:

Sourdough buns
butter
sauerkraut
Corned beef
Russian Sauce
Swiss cheese

Prepare homemade Russian Sauce:
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
1 cup Mayonnaise
¼ cup ketchup-style chili sauce or ketchup
1 TABLESPOON of freshly grated horseradish
1 teaspoon hot sauce, preferably Frank's RED-HOT Sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
¼ teaspoon sweet paprika
Fine sea salt

Mix the above ingredents in a small bowl.  This recipe can be made ahead of time. The dressing can be prepared ahead and refrigerated, in an airtight container, up to 2 weeks.

  1. Slice buns in half.
  2. Heat a pan to medium heat on the stove.
  3. Spread softened butter on each half the bun.
  4. Brown the inside of the buns in the hot pan.
  5. Remove the bun from the pan.
  6. Place a sliced Corned Beef on the bottom bun slice.
  7. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of the Corned Beef.
  8. Spead Russian Sauce on top of the Swiss Cheese.
  9. Place another slice of Corned Beef on top of the Russian Sauce
  10. Add another slice of Swiss Cheese and sauerkraut.
  11. Place the top of the bun on the sauerkraut.
  12. Enjoy!
